ELL1900X - Orientation and Assessment

Course Description

Comience su trayectoria de aprendizaje del idioma inglés completando la evaluación de nivel (Level Test) y el curso de orientación. El Level Test le ayuda a ubicarse en el nivel adecuado dentro del Programa de Aprendizaje del Idioma Inglés. El examen evalúa Lectura, Escritura, Expresión Oral y Comprensión Auditiva. Todos los estudiantes deben completar el Level Test al inicio del curso de orientación.  

Los estudiantes recibirán su puntaje del Level Test y sus instrucciones de próximos pasos dentro de 3 días hábiles después de enviar su examen. Las instrucciones de los próximos pasos incluyen dos tareas que deben completarse antes de comenzar el primer curso: 

1. Completar el curso de orientación. 
2. Inscribirse en el programa correcto según el puntaje del Level Test.

Objetivos de Aprendizaje

Al finalizar este curso de orientación y evaluación, los estudiantes podrán: 

• Conocer su puntaje del Level Test. 
• Saber cómo inscribirse en el Programa de Aprendizaje del Idioma Inglés en el nivel adecuado. 
• Comprender la importancia del plan de estudios (syllabus) y cómo utilizarlo. 
• Saber cómo establecer metas SMART. 
• Reflexionar sobre su visión, metas, motivaciones y prioridades personales. 
• Diferenciar una mentalidad de crecimiento de una mentalidad fija. 
• Identificar recursos que apoyen su trayectoria educativa. 
• Revisar consejos para comunicarse eficazmente con profesores y asesores.

Los estudiantes tendrán acceso al curso de orientación por 30 días.  

Start your English language learning journey by completing the Level Test language assessment and orientation course. The Level Test helps place you in the right English Language Learning Program level. The test assesses Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Every student must complete the Level Test at the start of the orientation course.  

The Level Test provides students with a clear overall score on both the Global Scale of English (GSE) and The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), alongside a performance summary for each skill that indicates whether the skill is at, above or below the overall level. Your Level Test score will determine the right level for you to begin the English Language Learning program.  

Students will receive their Level Test score and their next step instructions within 3 business days after submitting their test. The next step instructions include two tasks that need completed before you can begin your first course: 

1. Complete the orientation course. 
2. Enroll in the correct program based on your Level Test score.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this orientation and assessment course, students will: 

• Learn their Level Test language assessment score. 
• Know how to enroll in the English Language Learning Program at the right level. 
• Understand the importance of the course syllabus and how to use it. 
• Know how to set SMART goals. 
• Reflect upon your unique vision, goals, motivations, and priorities. 
• Differentiate a growth mindset from a fixed mindset. 
• Identify resources to support your educational journey. 
• Review tips for effectively communicating with faculty and advisors.
